--Son of Sample Alexander & his 2nd wife Lucy Clawson.
--Occupation: Presbyterian Minister. He was awarded the honorary Doctor of Divinity degree.
--He served a variety of pastorates: in Tennessee in 1890, then in Cabarrus County, NC where he was a pastor in 1896, then he was serving a church in Baltimore in 1900. He & his family were in VA in 1905 & in Memphis, TN in 1908. By 1920, they were in Nashville where he remained until his death.
--He married Juliet Dickinson in 1888; three sons died young. Their other 5: Sallie Cabell Alexander, Juliet Dickinson Alexander, Emma Woods Alexander, Ridley H. Alexander, & William Carrington Alexander.
--Likely William & Juliet chose to have their family plot in Concord because of their sons who died when they lived in Concord in the 1890s.
