Obituary of Alonza F. Byers:
Alonza Fredrick Byers, 83, died yesterday at 2:30 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Grant Shatzer, of 507 Philadelphia Avenue, after having been in ill health for the past 2 1/2 years.
He was born July 20, 1863, in Franklin County, a son of the late John W. and Catherine Holby Byers.
Mr. Byers was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, "The Knights of Pythias", "The Odd Fellows" of St. Thomas and "The Pennsylvania Railroad Relief Department".
He was the last of his family. Surviving in addition to his daughter are seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Sellers Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. C. A. Neal officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.
