Mary Ellen Baumgardner, of Taneytown, MD, entered into eternal rest early on the morning of April 26, 2011, in Littlestown. She was the widow of Ardell Baumgardner who died January 25, 1982.

Born July 29, 1915 in Carroll County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Bernie & Vergie (Hawk) Bowers.

Mrs. Baumgardner was a homemaker and a farmer. She was a member of Piney Creek Church of the Brethren, Taneytown.

Mary Ellen is survived by two daughters, Genevieve "Genny" Reaver of Gettysburg and Louise "Weesie" Pitzer of Abbottstown; three sons, Richard Baumgardner and Timothy Baumgardner, both of Taneytown and David Baumgardner of Hampton, MD; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd Bowers of Taneytown; and caregivers, Sandy and Thelma Reifsnyder of Littlestown.

She was predeceased by a son, LeRoy Baumgardner; three brothers, Ellsworth, Monroe and Leonard Bowers; and a sister, Beulah Bowers.

Funeral service will be April 29, 2011 10 a.m. at Piney Creek Church of the Brethren, Taneytown, with the Rev. Stan Diehl officiating. Interment will be in Piney Creek Cemetery.
