Mass of Christian Burial offered for Joseph Ziegler Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph J. Ziegler was offered Friday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mobridge with Father Ray Guilioet, CPPS, as celebrant. A Rosery service was recited Thrusday afternoon at larson's memorial Chapel. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery with Larson's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Sister Gabriella Crowley was organist and the church choir sang. Pallbearers were Casmer Holzer, Trail City, Francis Glatt, Selby, Steve Ziegler, Durham, N. C., Richard Keller, Paul Klein and Frank Silbernagel, all of Mobridge, and Robert Steven, Rapid City. Ziegler died Tuesday, Feb. 6, of cancer at Mobridge Care Center, here he had been a resident since April 1, 1978. He was born March 31, 1900 on a farm five miles northeast of Zeeland, N. D., where he attended school and grew up. On Nov. 22, 1920 he married Columbia Keller at Strasburg, N. D., and they settled on a farm near Zeeland. In the spring of 1923, the family moved to Trail City and made their home with the Hohn Silbernagel family until their home was built on their homestead 3 1/2 miles northwest of Trail City. This remained the family home until 1933 when they moved into Trail City and he operated a grocery store with his brother Christ. In 1935, he and George Martin opened the Martin & Ziegler Liquor Store. He continued in business until his retirement in 1967. He and his wife continued to live in Trail City until they moved into the Lakeview Apts. in Eureka in May 1974. They lived there until entering the Mobridge Care Center last year. He was a past member of the Ridgeland Township Board, a trustee of the Trail City Community Hall, and was a member of the Catholic Church in Eureka. Survivors include his wife Columbia; four sons, Peter F., Thermopolis, Wyo., Roy J., Mitchell, Claude L., Mobridge, and Joseph J. Jr., Rapid City; two daughters, Mr. Earl J. (Mary F.) Bagwell, Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Walter (Victoria D.) Werre, Bismarck, N. D.; 15 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, Brandie Feak and Aimee K. Reidy. He is also survived by two brothers, Christ, Bismarck and Frank, Zeeland; and four sisters, Mrs. Lagarda Schatz, Mrs. Katherine Senftner, both of Eureka, Mrs. Mike (Eva) Jangula, Bismarck, and Mrs. Francis Kuhn, McIntosh. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Ziegler. Jo Hall
