A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Mark and Vestie Wilson Riddle and the husband of Gladys Riddle who died in 1980. He was an Army veteran of World War I and was a retired farmer.
Surviving are two daughters, Irene Hyatt and Marjorie Wilson of Burnsville; three sons, Pearson Riddle Jr of Weirsdale, Florida, E.R. Riddle of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Vance Riddle of Asheville; Twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pensacola Free Will Baptist Church, of which he was a member. The Revs. Troy McCurry and Arnold Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Riddle Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Holcombe Bros. Funeral Home, where the body will remain until the services.
