TENNANT - SOKOLOWSKI, Kathleen M.

88 years, formerly of Corning and Sullivanville (prior to relocating to Florida), died January 2, 2008 at the Palm Garden Nursing Home. She was born October 10, 1919 in Tyrone, NY, the daughter of the late Nelson and Mary [ed. Helen Louy] Tennant.

She was a graduate of the Bradford School System. Kathleen and Adam Sokolowski were married. He predeceased her in 2000. She was employed with Corning Inc. as a Quality Control Inspector from 1944, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Women of the Moose in Tarpon Springs, FL, the Eagle Auxiliary in Hudson, FL, the John Warner VFW of Elmira Heights, NY, and the Senior Citizens Group of Hernando County, Spring Hill, FL. Kathleen was devoted to her family, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Surviving are her sons, Gene Steves of Glen St. Mary's, FL, Ronald Steves of Savannah, GA, and Dale Steves of Gillette, PA; daughters, Lois Southard of Corning NY, and Janice Halstead of Gillette, PA; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; sister, Wahneta Costa of Corning, NY; brother, Foster Tennant of Alburque, NM; daughter-in-law, Sharon Steves of Gillette, PA; also several nieces and nephews.

Predeceasing her were sons, Thomas Steves and Maynard Steves; brother, Aubrey Tennant; and sister, Helen Morse.

Friends may call at the Haughey Funeral Home, 216 E. First St., Corning, NY, Monday, January 7, 2008, from 4-7 p.m. Funeral and Committal Services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at 2:00 p.m.; Rev. James Ellis officiating. Interment will be in the family plot at Chapel Knoll Cemetery, Coopers Plains, NY.

The family would appreciate Memorial Donations be given in Kathleen's name to Community Hospice, 5450 Ramona Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
