While sitting quietly in his home at Cashtown, Sunday noon, Guy R. Linn, Adams county game warden who was vary well known in this section of the state, died instantly from a sudden attack of neuralgia of the heart.
Five minutes before there had been absolutely no indication of the attack as Mr. Linn, who was forty one years old, seemed to be in perfect health.
Several minutes before the death occurred Mrs. Linn had gone to the second floor of the house and had left her husband sitting in a chair holding their several months old baby, John Sheely Linn, on his lap. Upon hearing a few short gasps Mrs. Linn descended to the first floor and found Mr. Linn still sitting in the same position but without a spark of life. She removed the baby boy from the lap of his dead father and immediately summoned John Hartman, next door neighbor.
Dr. Elderdice, of McKnightstown, who arrived ten minutes after Mr. Linn died, stated that death was not due to a blood clot as some persons supposed but to neuralgia of the heart. Dr. Woomer, of Cashtown, former coroner for Adams county, also was summoned to the Linn residence.
Guy Linn, whose sudden death was a severe shock to people in all parts of Adams county, was a son of the late John M. Linn and a brother of William Linn, of Hamiltonban township, a member of the present board of county commissioners. He was born at the Linn homestead one mile west of Orrtanna and lived there his entire life until three years ago when he moved into Orrtanna near the time when he received an appointment as county game warden. Prior to that time it was his duty to aid his brothers in working on the farm of his father who, until his death six years ago, managed the Linn mill.
Two years ago Guy Linn married Miss Hettie Sheely, who lived near Cashtown, and one year ago the couple moved into that village to live.
In his capacity of game warden Mr. Linn became known to practically every hunter in the South Mountain as he was especially active during the deer season in detecting violators of the game laws.
He is survived by his wife and two months old son; three brothers, William Linn, of Hamiltonban township; Harry Linn and John Linn, who live on the homestead near Orrtanna; six sisters, Mrs. Herbert Cover, Covington, Virginia. Mrs. Harry Rebert, Barker, New York; Miss Nellie Linn, at home; Miss Elizabeth Linn, of York; Mrs. Edgar Newman, of Fairfield, and Miss Ruth Linn, at home.
Funeral Wednesday at 1:00 meeting at the house with services conducted in the Reformed Church at Cashtown by Rev. A. J. Martin, pastor of the Methodist Church, of Orrtanna, and Rev. I.S. Ernst, of Shrewsburg, Maryland, officiating. Interment Flohr’s cemetery.
