While growing up she had spoke of someday becoming a model. Opal and her brother, Garrett, were inseparable. He was 18 when she was murdered at the age of sixteen. Opal's body was pulled to the shore on August 15, 1982. Opal made a last phone call on August 12, 1982, it was to her brother, asking for a ride. She said she was planning to do a painting job with her friend Cynthia Hinds. Another of Ridgeway's victims. Opal was a murder victim of Gary Leon Ridgway, known as "The Green River Killer" who was responsible for the murders of 49 women in Seattle, Washington, between 1982 and 1984.
