Shelby Gail Anderton, age 90, of Cedarview, passed away April 22, 2011, at his home.

He was born March 8, 1921, in Cedarview, to Arthur H. and Amy Jane Lowe Anderton. He married Ida Springer on June 4, 1947, in Ioka. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple.

Before Gail retired, he was a janitor for the Neola School, a school bus driver, and a bus mechanic. He did all of this for about 33 years. He was a devoted father, hard worker, and honest in his dealings with others. He was a Scoutmaster for many years, and the first boys in that ward to achieve their Eagle rank came under his direction. He also served as ditch rider for several years. When he had a bit of spare time, he enjoyed going camping, hunting, and fishing. Being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he loved and cared for each of his children. He will be missed by all.

He leaves behind his wife, Ida, of Cedarview; son Kim (Sharrol) Anderton, daughter, Linda Bird (Raymond) Allen, both of Roosevelt; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Bud (Vivian) Anderton, sister, Mary Jane (Grant) Mohlman; step-mother, Hazel (Windsor) Reed, Roosevelt.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kerby Roy Anderton, his parents, Arthur and Amy; his sisters Nola Nelson, Fawn Hall, Fenn Larsen, Ione Dye; brothers Lamar, Paul, Carl, Sam, and Tom.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thurs., April 28 at the Neola Ward Chapel.

Viewing will be prior to the services at the church beginning at 10 a.m.
