Ada "Jeanne" Paxton, 89, of Muskogee, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Eastgate Village Retirement Center. She was born on July 3, 1921 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Harry Peter and Hazel Ester (Rike) Erwin. Jeanne attended school in Corpus Christi, Texas, Springfield, Missouri, and Tulsa before graduating from Tahlequah High School. On April 7, 1942, Jeanne and John W. Paxton married in Alva, Oklahoma. John preceded her in death in 1982. After John's death, Jeanne went to work at Muskogee Community Services as a receptionist for three years. Jeanne was a member of Chandler Road Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, sewing, canning and had a tremendous love for music and singing. She also enjoyed gardening and could grow all kinds of plants and flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; three sisters, Alberta Connelly, Margaret Leafer and Eleanor Franklin and one brother, Harold Erwin. Jeanne is survived by her son, John Paxton, Jr. of Muskogee and his two children; daughter, Hazel Paxton Buck of Tulsa and her daughter; son, Woodrow Donald Paxton of Norwalk CA and his four children and Harold Eugene "Gene" Paxton of Muskogee; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild on the way. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Chandler Road Church of Christ with Mr. Donnie Branscum and Mr. James McCracken officiating. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
