Minnie Kathleen Dennis
Minnie Dennis, 87, died April 23, 2011 in Lubbock, Texas after a brief illness.

Graveside services will be held 10:00AM Tuesday April 26, 2011 at the Whiteflat Cemetery near Whiteflat, Texas in Motley County under the direction of Shannon Funeral Home of Matador.

She was born July 18, 1923 in Floydada, Texas to Hollis and Cordelia Stephens. Her family farmed in the Whiteflat area. Minnie graduated from Matador High School in 1940. She attended Wayland Baptist University, South Plains College, and Texas Tech University. She received additional training at Plainview and Parkland Hospitals. She married Artie Dennis in 1950. Minnie and Artie moved to Lubbock in 1952 and she resided there until her death. She worked in nursing and later she and Artie owned an automobile business before retiring around 1980. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lubbock.

Minnie enjoyed crocheting, reading, writing letters to friends and family, cooking, canning fruits and vegetables, traveling, and spending time in the mountains. She loved her family including all of her extended "cousins". She also loved her two adorable Pomeranian's, both named Teddy.

Minnie was preceded in death by her husband Artie (2000), father Hollis (1935), mother Cordelia (1984), brother H.A. Stephens Jr. (1995), sister Nora Belle Dunning (2008), nephew Kenneth Dunning (2008), and niece Rhonda Norrell (2008). She is survived by her sister-in-law Myrna Stephens of Matador, niece Raynita Murphy of Matador, nephews Chad Stephens and James Stephens of Idalou, and many grand nieces and nephews.
