HENRY - Melvin "Bud" R. Barker, 85, formerly of Henry, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018, at Cabin Livin in Hennepin.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granville. Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate.
Per Bud's request, his body will be donated to science.
Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
Bud was born on July 26, 1932, in Henry to Melvin Henry and Lucille (Landers) Barker. He graduated from Henry High School in 1950. He was employed for 42 years at the Illinois Power Company Hennepin facility and retired as plant supervisor.
Bud served in the United States Navy.
Bud was a member of the American Legion Post 233 in Henry. He was a past member at Edgewood Golf Course in McNabb. He was also a past member and president of the Henry School Board.
Survivors include five daughters, Julie (Frank) Bizzell of Clermont, FL, Joan (Chris) Wyatt of St. Augustine, FL, Jill (Dave) Bogner of Elkhart, IN, Joy Barker of St. Charles and Jolene (Gary) Woitynek of Granville; one sister, Marilyn Schuster of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren, Kathleen (Scott) Aslan, Jackson and Joseph Wyatt, Michael (Denise) Horn, Benjamin and Bradley Shurts, Britny and Zachary Mekley and Ian Woitynek; and four great-grandchildren, Emerson, Broden and Langston Aslan and Mckaela Horn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lois Jean, in 1996.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cabin Livin, in care of Jolene Woitynek, at P.O. Box 375, Granville, IL 61326.
