The Gettysburg Times April 1, 1932

In failing health for several years, according to members of the family, George Henry Ketterman, 57, well-known Cumberland township farmer, committed suicide at 11:00 this morning in a woodshed at his home near Round Top.
His lifeless body, dangling from a rope looped about a rafter overhead, was found about ten minutes later by Mrs. Ketterman when she went to the shed for wood. A short time before Mr. Ketterman had been smoking in the kitchen.
Mrs. Ketterman notified several children residing at home and neighbors, who cut down the body. Dr. Edgar A. Miller, Adams county coroner, was summoned, and, after viewing the body, issued the death certificate.
Mr. Ketterman had been in ill health for some time, but had never intimated that he might attempt to end his life, members of the family said.
He was born in Franklin township, a son of the late John and Sarah (Lady) Ketterman, and is survived by his widow, whose maiden name was Miss Alice Patterson, of Cumberland township; four sons and two daughters.
Mrs. Raymond Trimmer, Biglerville; Paul Ketterman, Gettysburg, and Harry, Carl, Raymond and Mary Ketterman, all at home. One granddaughter survives.
Five brothers, Calvin Ketterman and Harry Ketterman, near Cashtown; Charles Ketterman, Greenwich, Ohio; John Ketterman, York, and Samuel Ketterman, Abilene, Kansas, and two sisters, Mrs. E. Cecil Stover, Arendtsville and Mrs. Maude Miller, Beecherstown, also survives.
Mr. Ketterman was a former supervisor in Cumberland township. He was a member of St. James Lutheran church and Sunday school.
