William P Rushing died in Bogalusa, Louisiana, on Friday 27 Aug 1965 at 3:30 a.m. at age 70 years. He was the husband of Mrs Martha Thrash Rushing and the father of Mrs Willie Mae Barrios of Good Hope, Louisiana, Mrs Beverly L Ales of Metairie, Louisiana, and Charles J Rushing of Chalmette, Louisiana. He was the stepfather of Mrs Azelie Starns of Varnado, Louisiana, Mrs Margie Knight of Memphis, Tennessee. He as the brother of Henry H Rushing of Laplace, Louisiana, Leon Rushing of Amite, Louisiana, Mrs Etta Stevens of Amite, Mrs Edna Jenkins of Woodworth, Louisiana, Mrs Ethel Shelby of Amite, Mrs Bessie Jenkins of Mesquite, Texas, Mrs Gertrude Carter of Amite. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Services were Saturday at Varnado Missionary Baptist Church, Rev Harold Johnson officiating, with interment in [Andrew Jackson] Pierce Cemetery.
