Daughter of the late Henry Antes. After her father's death in 1754, Bishop Spangenberg brought her to Bethlehem Board School, where she died of smallpox.

Written in their family Bible, "Today a little daughter was born to me at Bethlehem about 2 o'clock in the morning, I named her Benigna. On this day she was baptized into the family of God. May the slain Lamb receive and retain her at his open wounded side."

Benigna was the name of the wife of Count Zinzendorf and this we learn she must have made a favorable impression on the mind of Antes. This was his last child. She died at age 12 during an epidemic at the school at Bethlehem.

NAMESAKE - of Benigna born in 1748:

Countess Benigna von Zinzendorf (born Henrietta Benigna Justine von Watteville in 1725 at Herrnhut, Dresden, Saxony, Germany)

She was the founder of Moravian College in May 1742
