Unmarried son of Esther Davies and Benjamin Jones from South Wales. David was born at Lampeter, Cardianshire, South Wales.
He immigrated to America as a young missionary for the LDS religion, sailing aboard the ship, General McClellan, on 21 May 1864.
When he reached the Salt lake Valley in October, he was greeted by his sister, Mary, who had married George Harding of Willard.
He went right to work, but soon his health failed and within a month, he died of lung and mountain fever and was buried at Willard Pioneer Cemetery. The Precinct Cemetery did not open until five years later, in 1869.
His headstone was washed out in the flood of 1936 and relocated to Willard Precinct Cemetery at his family lot. His headstone is now in Ward 5, Block 1, Lot 3, Grave # 5.
