Garlon Goad was born in Barren Co, Kentucky on September 1, 1904 to Joshua Luke Goad (1873-1951) and Etta "Etty" Francis Gillinwaters (1878-1956). Garlon married Lois Bird (1918-1983) on September 7, 1932. Together they had seven children: Jettie Mae Vandiver (1935- ), Maddline Asher (1939- ), Carnell Goad (1942-1997), Brenda Sue Coles (1945- ), Linda Lou Perry (1945- ), Carol Morris Goad (1947-1947), and Lola Ann Goad (1953-1953). Garlon was preceded in death by two children (Carol and Lola) as well as his beloved wife Lois. He passed away on April 11, 1995 in Columbus, Indiana.
