Roy C. "Deacon" Dallam, Jr., 83 of Lee's Summit, MO passed away suddenly on April 20, 2011. Memorial services will be held Monday, April 25, at Speaks Chapel on 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be at 1pm. Memorial at 2pm with burial following at Mount Grove Cemetery, 1818 North River Blvd, Independence, MO 64050. Roy was born in St. Joseph, MO to Charlotte and Roy Dallam Sr. on March 23, 1928. He attended Benton High School and shortly after enlisted in the US Army, to serve his country in South Korea. Upon returning he married his high school sweetheart, Bernadette Mazur. They were married for 64 years, and have two daughters. Roy served his community in several ways which began with a career in law enforcement for 31 years with the Highway Patrol. His entire career was served in the Kansas City area, Troop A located in Lee's Summit. As a Deacon in the Community of Christ Church, Roy believed that everyone he met was entitled to respect, dignity and courtesy. He performed numerous weddings and funerals and administered to the sick. Later in life, he was the Chaplain for the Honor Guard at Post 189 American Legion of Honor. In the past, he was involved with the Optimist Club and volunteered at Social Services and was an election judge. With his full schedule, he always made time to squeeze in a couple of rounds of golf a few times a week, at which he achieved a hole in one. For several years, he found great joy as a marshal at Loch Lloyd Country Club. He was a wonderful Father, Grandpa, husband and friend. He will be missed greatly. Roy is now reunited with his parents, Roy and Charlotte Dallam; two sisters: Marietta Dallam and Charlotte Bowers; and grandson Matthew. He leaves behind his wife, Bernadette; daughters: Victoria Hiles and Kimberly Malloy and husband Gerry; grandson Michael Kirkpatrick; great-grandsons Alex and Jake; and sister, Janet Mayfield; several nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
