Mrs. Swim was born in Cumberland County, the daughter of Nicholas Applegate and Rachel Garner Applegate. She was married to Bert Swim in Cumberland County in the year of 1900 and he passed away December 13, 1956. She and her husband operated a farm in Denver Township near the Pleasant View Church for many years.
She leaves seven children: Harold E. Swim of Greenup, Mrs. Faye Orrell of Waterloo, Earl Swim of Champaign, Mrs. Pearl Malcolm of Noble, Lowell Swim of Hobart, Ind., Mrs. Louise Tennyson of Grayville, and Mrs. Gretchen Felkamp of Olney. There are 23 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, John Applegate of Hidalgo.
Besides her husband she has been preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Angeline, Alice, Elizabeth, and Malissa and a half brother, Robert A. Applegate.
