ELLETTSVILLE - James Lowell Elliott, 91, of Ellettsville, passed away on Sunday evening March 27, 2011, at his residence.
Lowell was born April 7, 1919, the son of Frank Westmoreland Elliott and Else Mae Headdy Elliott Thomas. He served in the U.S. Army in the south Pacific during WWII. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 604, serving as an officer before becoming ill. He was retired from Weddle Brothers Construction company, where he worked from 1953 until his retirement in 1981 and was a member of Laborers and Hod Carrier Local 741. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Gosport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lorean Edwards, Leota Terman, and Catherine Parris; and brothers, Herman Elliott, Winfred Headdy, and Charles Elliott.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Dorothy (Steele) (House) Elliott; children, Pattie(Ejnar) Kirk of Thisted, Denmark, and son, Lowell Gene (Janet) Elliott of Unionville; five grandchildren; brother, Paul Russell Elliott; sisters, Genelle Kearney and Erma Rose Fox; stepchildren, David (Betty) House of Bloomington, Dennis (Mary Ann) House of Phoenix, AZ, Lisa Massey of Springfield, MO, Lori (Andy) LeBlanc of Winter Haven, FL; and nine step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Jon Miller and Pastor Jim Barr officiating. Burial is to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens, Visitation will be today from 4-8 p.m. and again one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
