Esther Amelia Bruns was born in Charlotte township to George Johnson and Katie (Schipper) Bruns on Feb 12, 1888. Never marrying, she remained in Charlotte her entire life. Her father died in 1908. In 1918, her sister Emma was married. Until 1924, she lived with her mother, Kate (Schipper) Bruns, her sisters, (Edith, Grace, and Irene), her brother (John G) and her uncle (John Schipper). In 1924, brother John married and moved down the road. Amelia, her mother, sisters Edith, Grace & Irene, and her uncle continued to farm. In 1934, her mother Kate died and Edith, Grace and Irene again continued to maintain the farm. Dying on Jan 12, 1938, she was preceded in death by her father, mother, and her brother, John. She was survived by four sisters, Edith, Emma, Grace, and Irene.
