Matthew A. Schwabe, 28, formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa died Friday, January 9, 2004 at Trinity West Hospital, Rock Island, Ill.
Celebration of Life Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 14 at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 13 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. A memorial fund will be established.
Matthew was born June 15, 1975 in Moline, Ill., the son of Gregory Lee Schwabe and Mary J. (Boeh) Peterson.
Matthew was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. He was a pioneer subject in spinal cord research, in an effort to improve the lives of other spinal cord injured patients.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Mary J. and Clair A. Peterson, Bettendorf, Ia., father and stepmother, Gregory Lee and Cathy Schwabe, Moline, Ill., one sister, Brittany Schwabe, three brothers, Joshua A. Schwabe, St. Petersburg, Fl., Jacob T. and Luke A. Peterson, both of Bettendorf, maternal grandmother, Marguerite Brooks, Bettendorf, paternal grandparents, Jack and Anna Fae, Moline, Ill., and paternal great-grandmother, Avis Shaus, Thompson, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Kenneth J. Boeh.
