Clara Hannah Klotz, age 93, passed away April 18, 2011. She was born October 8, 1917 in Waterville, KS, the daughter of Herman R. and Mary Roepke. She was the last surviving of nine children. She was preceded in death by Edwin J. Klotz, her husband of 53 years. They were married in Long Beach in 1940 and were members of the First Lutheran Church. Clara retired from the Long Beach Naval Shipyard payroll department in 1981 with 24 years of service. After retirement, Clara and Ed volunteered for ten years delivering Meals On Wheels. She is survived by her daughter, Betty K. Rego (John) and son, Edwin L. Klotz (Donna Toms); grandchildren, Robert A. Klotz and Kristine L. Klotz. Private interment will be in Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Nagourney Institute, 750 E 29th St, Long Beach, CA 90806 (562-989-6455) to further cancer research.
