Nellie, as she was called, was the daughter of Charles Austin Alley and Anna Eliza (Myrick) Alley. She married French Thomas Benson on 28 Apr 1888 in Lynn, Essex County, Massachusetts.
She was the mother of five children, four daughters and one son. One daughter was stillborn and two other daughters lived to adulthood but died young and unmarried. Her other daughter and son both lived to old age and married and had children.
Nellie was a widow in 1932 and died 20 May 1934 in Lynn. She is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery with many of her family in the Myrick plot.
