MADRID TOWNSHIP - Leatrice J. Sargent, age 83, of Madrid Township died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, surrounded by her loving brother Ray and sister-in-law Ruby Branum and close friends.
She was born in Lenna, Okla., on Aug. 27, 1927, the oldest child of Arthur and Florence Branum.

She married Lloyd Sargent on Jan. 27, 1951. They were married for 50 years. Lloyd died on Oct. 7, 2001.

Leatrice will be most remembered as a very sweet lady. She provided numerous meals and sweets for those in need and various community functions. She was an avid gardener and sewed for the Reeds Mill Ladies Circle for many years, making quilts to support the Reeds Mill Church. She was a member of the Madrid Historical Society.

She is survived by her younger brothers, Ray and his wife, Ruby Branum, of Mount Holly, N.C., and Herb and his wife, Terry, of Morris, Okla., and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Art Branum.
Internment will be at the Dunham Cemetery in Madrid Township. (Morning Sentinel 4/22/2011)
