Son of Amasa & Clarissa (Orr) Bigelow of VT born at Orwell, OH. Enlisted when he was 18 yrs of age, Company A, 6th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry (10/26/1863-4/18/1865) at Cleveland. First married Nancy Frazier at Flat Rock, MI on Feb 22, 1872. They had three children, two daughters and one son. After the death of Nancy he married Nettie Downend of Toledo, May 22, 1903. Noted as good father,friend and neighbor. (note: Bigelow Historical Society website has him listed as Daniel A.(8)Bigelow, his Ohio death certificate, Daniel J Bigelow, show him as same person ie; dob,parents & obit found at Monroe County Historical Museum)
