John was a Revolutinary Soldier serving as a private in the New York Line enlisting in Orange Co. in April 1777. He served in Rosencrantz's Company, Col Lewis Dubois Regiment and was at Fort Montgomery, Orange Co. when the Fort was taken by the British at the time his Sister (Aunt Sally) drank her tea.
