Kansan – June 6, 1968
Alphonse Giroux long time Concordia resident, died early Tuesday morning at St. Joseph hospital following an extended illness. He was 64 years old.
He was born October 28, 1905 at Sherbrooke, Canada, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Giroux and came to cloud County with his parents at the age of six months. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and BPO Elks No. 586 of Concordia. His marriage to Miss Ella Comeau took place in Concordia April 7, 1931. They lived on a farm southwest of Concordia until 1931, when they moved to Concordia. He was employed by the county highway dept for 13 years later by the Santa Fe Railroad and the Fairmont Foods Company and for the past eight years had been employed as the foreman for the Quartzite Products Company.
Surviving are his wife and two sons: Franklin Giroux, Omaha, Nebr., and Ivan Giroux, Boulder, Colo., and one daughter, Mary, Mrs. Glen Richter, Concordia. Also survives are 10 grandchildren and these brothers and sisters: Irene, Mrs. John Malmquist, Edward Giroux, Madeline, Mrs. Buford Malmquist, all of Concordia; Joseph Giroux, Commerce City, Colo., and Alice, Mrs. Albert Hebert, Concordia.
Funeral services were held this morning Thursday, June 6, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and burial took place in the Catholic cemetery.
