Bethyl I. Smith, 79, of Mexico, NY, formerly of Lacona, passed away April 19, 2011, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born June 16, 1931, in Lacona. She was the daughter of Charles and Gladys Burdick Sherman. Her husband, Floyd G. Smith, died in 2007. They made wooden toys and lawn ornaments for many years selling them at craft shows and flea markets. Survived by her companion, Francis "Mac" McManus of Mexico; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Predeceased by a sister, Betty Waite. Graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sandy Creek with Pastor Fran Taplin officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements by Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, NY.
