SCRANTON: Mrs. Geneva Lynch Cockfield, 67, died suddenly Friday, February 19, 2010, at home.

Mrs. Cockfield was born August 25, 1942, in Lake City, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Willie Lynch, Sr., and Vera Matthews Lynch. She had a special love for children with disabilities and retired from Florence County Disabilities & Special Needs Thrift Shop in Lake City. Mrs. Cockfield was a former employee at LaZ Boy for many years and attended Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church in Scranton.

Surviving are her son, Anthony L. "Tony" Cockfield and his wife, Rhonda of Pleasant Hill; sister, Ruth M. "Ressie" Howard of Scranton; brother, Jimmy Lynch of Scranton; and four grandchildren, Jodi B. Lytle and her husband, Michael of Rose Hill, Nathan A. Baxley and his wife, Summer of Hemingway, Tonya C. Ellis and her husband, Ron, and Tabetha Cockfield, all of Pleasant Hill; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cockfield was predeceased by three brothers, Willie Lynch, Jr., James Kenneth "Rawhide" Lynch and Eddie Lynch.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 22, 2010, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial in Lake City Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. Sunday, February 21, 2010, at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton, SC 29591, and at other times at the home: 1109 Clover Hill Road, Scranton, SC 29591.
