Per Robert Fletcher Biggs:

These are my Grandparents. Robert James Fletcher was born in Kershaw county, SC, son of James Fletcher and Sarah Love.

My Grandmother had an affectation about her name, she preferred to use DeLaney. She was actually born Florence Luke Laney in Chesterfield County, SC, daughter of J. Pickett Laney and Henrietta Hough. I know of no reason to support the use of the De Laney form, it appears nowhere else in family records.
