Mr. Johnson passed away Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Bettendorf Health Care following an extended illness.
Jerry Lee Johnson was born May 5, 1957, in Chicago, a son of Mylas and Allene (Wells) Johnson.
Jay was a roofer and "jack of all trades" who was employed in the construction trades and enjoyed working outdoors.
His love for music and playing in bands earned him the nickname "Rock-n-Roll." He loved the blues and volunteered at the Blues Fest for the past 25 years. Jay was a caring person and enjoyed helping others in any way he could. He lived life to the fullest.
Survivors include his wife, Laurie Wright-Johnson, Davenport; sister, Juanita (Ray) Basica, Orlando, Fla.; brothers, John (Rose) Johnson, Chicago, and James (Sue) Johnson, Westchester, Ill.; stepchildren, Dameon Wright, Dustin Wright and Nina DeSilva; best friend, Dale "Rock-n-Roll Jr." Youngers; nieces and nephew Julia (Brian), Jill (James) and Jason; foster parents, Paul and Fran Chernyshev; and foster brother, Michael Wright.
His parents preceded him in death.
