He was born September 8, 1931, in Battle Creek, Mich., the son of William C. and Margaret (Baker) Gage. On December 18, 1953, he married the former Janet Stewart, who survives him. He received a bachelor of science degree from Ohio State University. He was the general manager for the WIKE radio station in Newport for eight years and recently became manager for the WSDJ station in St. Johnsbury. He was also the general manager for the WNOR-AM and FM radio station in Norfolk for 11 years. In 1986, Mr. Gage was a recipient of the Peabody Award for Journalism at the WAFX radio station in Fort Wayne, Ind. He held membership with the Civitan Club, Virginia Beach, and the Newport Rotary Club.
He was the beloved husband of Janet Gage of Derby Line; dear father of Cindy Watson of Ellicott City, Md.; cherished grandfather of Katheryn Elizabeth Watson; and dear brother of Patricia Allen of Woodstock, Ill.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Curtis-Britch Memorial Chapel, Newport, by the Rev. Forest Rouelle. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the hour of the funeral on Monday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norfolk.
