U.S. Congressman. He attended the Stanford Academy, Meyers Academy, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1879 and commenced to practice law in Stanford, Kentucky. He was collector of internal revenue for the sixth Kentucky district, (1885-89), a member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives, (1886-88), master of chancery commissioner of the Lincoln circuit court, (1886-93) and judge of the Lincoln County Court, (1894-96). In 1897, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fifth Congress, serving until 1899. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he served as assistant an US Attorney for the eastern district of Kentucky, (1900-100 and then retired from public life until his death at age 57.
