Aaron was the son of Aaron Barnes (1766/1770-unknown) & Nancy Vogan b. abt 1790-1794 PA and sibling to Jonathan Vogan, Mary Ann, William, 4 sisters, and 5 half-siblings, Samuel, Isabella (Abusilla), Nancy Jane, and 2 half-sisters.
He was born in either Clearfield Co. or Butler Co, PA and married Lydia Harlan (1822-1885) on 20 Jul 1837 in PA. They had 10 children, Jonathan W., Henry S., John Milton,all b. PA, William Perry, Nancy Jane, (both b. MO) Mary Elizabeth, Aaron Henry Jr, Lydia Ann, Benjamin Franklin, and Samuel Leroy (all b. CA). Samuel is #60389366, Findagrave, John is #9285514, Nancy Jane is #75905402, Lydia is #64962805, and Benjamin is #10313251.
Jonathan d. in PA, but the rest of the family went to MO in 1843 and to CA in 1850 (Nevada City, CA to Feather River to Grass Valley, CA and finally settled in Analy Township (now Sebastopol), Sonoma Co, CA by 1860.
He was a prominent citizen in Sebastopol and established the Barnes family cemetery, now the Pleasant Hills Cemetery (now referred to as the pioneer section), Sebastopol, Sonoma, CA.
