The birth of S.A.D. Fenton was in Fulton Co., Ill., July 28, 1843. He did May 12, 1904 aged 60 yrs., 9 mo., and 19 days.
He was married to Caroline V. Cordor September 7, 1862.
To this union were born 9 children, 8 of whom are still living together a mother and one sister o mourn the loss of one so dear.
Broth Fenton professed faith In Christ in 1869 and united with the Chariton River Baptist Church remaining a member of that body until being called home to his reward after talking of his hope beyond this life.
The deceased volunteered in Co. F. 36th Iowa, September, 1864, was taken prisoner at Marks Mills, Ark., April 25, 1865 He was held at a prisoner of war near Tyler, Texas, for 10 months and was discharged in August, 1864.
He will be greatly missed in the community where he had lived so long.
Funeral services were conducted May 13, at 11 o'clock by the pastor of the Chariton River Church, Rev. J.W. Jones of Hedrick, Iowa.
The family have the sympathy of all the friends and neighbors. May the Lord bless them in their hour of sorrow because of the loss of one so dear to them.
