Almon Day Orton, 67, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on April 17, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah of heart failure after many years of battling diabetes and its complications.

Almon was born November 9, 1943 in Parowan, Utah to Almon Hills Orton and Arvilla Day. He married Sylvia Conger on February 6, 1971 in Butler, Utah.

Almon served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Princeton. He worked for AT&T Long Lines, retiring with thirty-five years of service.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He spent his life in giving service to anyone who was in need. He especially loved camping and fishing with his family and friends. He also loved just hanging out with his best buddy, Jack Burt.

Almon is survived by his wife, Sylvia, daughters, Nikki, Dayna, Lorrie, and Suzy (Chris) O'Bryant, granddaughters, Gracie, Sophie, and Ellie O'Bryant, sisters, Virginia (Don) Southam, Shauna (Graeme) Russell, and brother, Royden (Debbie) Orton. Preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Hilma (Max) Jensen and JoLynn Orton.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 East Bengal Boulevard (7600 South), Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Friends may call at the mortuary from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. the day of the services.
Interment: Murray City Cemetery, Murray, Utah.
