Joseph K. Carnithan, 76, Mount Juliet, Tenn., formerly of Rock Island, died Aug. 16, 2000, at UMC Hospital, Lebanon, Tenn.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.
He was born Sept. 19, 1923, in Eldorado, Ill., the only child of Joseph and Blanche Carnithan. He married Millie Bowles Dec. 25, 1945. He married Roberta Meier Aug. 10, 1986.
Surviving are his wife, Roberta; daughter, Melissa LeFevere, Miami, Fla.; sons, Paul, Abbington, Md., Jeff, Winston Salem, N.C., David, Randy and Kevin, all of Rock Island; stepdaughters, Debbie Marx, Bloomington, Ill., Cindy Martens, Orion; stepson, Gary Dahl, Denver, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
