Forrest Eldon Spangle, 84, formerly of Otterville, died at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011.
He was born May 1, 1926, in Otterville, to Leslie R. and Tessie E. (Bethel) Spangle.
The World War II Air Force veteran was a farmer and self-employed in the construction industry in Florida. He was a member of the VFW of Clearwater and was involved in the Jersey County 4H.
Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Cheryl and George Vambaketes of Godfrey; grandchildren, James and Stacy Vambaketes of Godfrey, Peter and Sarah Vambaketes of Wood River, Emily and Jason Johnson of Alton; great-grandchildren, Breann, James, Katherine, Isabella, and Samuel; brother, Raymond Estel "Pat" Spangle of Tucson, Arizonal sister, Elva and Bud Wadlow of Jerseyville; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Fred Ortiz of Clearwater.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bernard Spangle; and one sister, Jane Wadlow.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where the Rev. Carl Hayes will officiate at services at 10 a.m. Friday, April 22.
Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 492 in Jerseyville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God Church in Jerseyville or First Baptist Church in Jerseyville.
