Funeral services for Josephine McAtee Joiner Cunningham, 96 of Hopkinsville, were conducted on Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at 10 a.m., at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville. Rev. John R. Christian officiated at the services. Burial followed in Flat Lick Church Cemetery in Christian County. Mrs. Cunningham died on Sunday, July 18, 2004, at 10:15 a.m., at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville following a brief illness. Mrs. Cunningham was born in Trigg County, the daughter of the late George Thomas and Clysta Ann Hillman McAtee. Mrs. Cunningham was an elementary school teacher for many years, first serving in Cadiz and Trigg County, and upon her retirement was teaching at Highland Elementary School in Hopkinsville; and she was a member of Second Baptist Church in Hopkinsville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Wilton Joiner in 1964; and her second husband, Amos R. Cunningham in 1976. Survivors include one daughter, Alice Joiner Cook of Arlington, Tenn.; one step-son, Dalton Eugene Joiner of Hopkinsville; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Wilton Joiner, in 1964, and her second husband, Amos R. Cunningham, in 1976. Survivors include a daughter, Alice Joiner Cook of Arlington, Tenn.; a stepson, Dalton Eugene Joiner of Hopkinsville; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
