Elmer D. Swindler, 66, of Mapleton, Kan., formerly of Kansas City, Kansas, died Thursday at a Fort Scott, Kan., hospital. He was born in Humansville, Mo., and had lived in Kansas City, Kansas, 31 years. Mr. Swindler was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Wyandotte County Highway Department. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Melba M. Swindler of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Juanita Defoor, Lawson, Mo.; a stepson, Marvin Wiss, Kansas City; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Maedean Masters, Kansas City, and Mrs. Margaret Cole, Kansas City, Kansas; three brothers, Leslie Swindler, Turney, Mo.; Novia Swindler, Lathrop, Mo., and Ray Swindler, Platte City; two sisters, Mrs. Clara E. Swope, Cameron, Mo., and Mrs. Cora M. Swope, Lawson; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Mapleton United Methodist Church; burial in the Mapleton Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Earl Chapel, Fort Scott.
