DAVENPORT - Funeral services to celebrate the life of Dennis L. Wickman, 51, a resident of Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home. Keeping with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the service, and inurnment will be held at a later date at Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 until 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Dennis died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, following an extended illness.

Dennis Lee Wickman was born on May 12, 1957, in La Crosse, Wis., a son of Frank Wickman and Ruth (Anderson) Wickman. After graduating high school, Dennis enlisted in the United States Marine Corps., and proudly served our country for four years.

Dennis was most recently employed by Suburban Construction, retiring due to his health concerns. He loved to ride his Harley, making many biking buddies through the years, and enjoyed attending the Sturgis Rally. Dennis also loved to camp and fish with his son, Chad, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Among survivors are his son, Chad Wickman, Davenport; his mother, Ruth Heskett; his siblings, Teresa Durant, Davenport, Sharon Morris, Green Valley, Ariz., Jack (Linda) Dettman, Cottonwood, Ariz., Mary (Gus) Dostal, Rice Lake, Wis., and Jim (Leesa) Wickman, Davenport; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Wickman, his brother, Ed Wickman, and brothers-in-law, Bill Durant, and Bud Morris.
