DAVENPORT- Celebration of Life Services for Ethel J. Walsh, Davenport, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation is one hour before the service. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Ethel died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at her home. Ethel Scherz was born June 12, 1920, in Davenport, to Werner and Elfrieda (Schneckloth) Scherz. She married Donald Montgomery on Sept. 21, 1940, in Davenport. He died May 13, 1942. She later married Donald Walsh on Jan. 15, 1944, in Chicago. He died Jan. 31, 1979. Ethel was a bookkeeper for 20 years at TAG Imports. She retired in 2000. Ethel enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She liked to have a good time. Memorials may be made to Genesis VNA Hospice. Survivors include, sisters, Rosemary Briegel, Davenport, Dorothy J. McKinzie, Davenport, and Ida M. Smith, Davenport; brother Kenneth W. Scherz, Savannah, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, Ethel was preceded in death by brothers, Louis E. Scherz, Raymond E. Scherz, Edwin C. Scherz, and walter Scherz, who died Feb. 6. 2002; and a sister, Helen A. Lathrop.
