Mary Katherine "Kay Martin, Age 94 of Portland, Oregon, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011. Born January 9, 1917 in Toledo, Ohio to parents Frank and Irene Larkin, she was married on November 22, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio. She came, with her husband, Ben Martin, to Roseburg in 1946. She volunteered in Campfire Girls, Cub Scouts, and Mercy Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed bridge and golf. She and her husband moved to Medford in 1970 where she volunteered at Providence Hospital and Emergency Room and Birthright. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roseburg and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. She was a member of the Roseburg Country Club and the Rogue Valley Country Club. She moved to Portland in 2002.
She is predeceased by her husband, Ben Martin in 2001 and her son, Michael Martin in 1981.
She is survived by daughters Carole (Phil) Jacobs, Barbara (Ron) Kuhn, and Sally (Roger) Allen and by son Fred (Lynette) Martin and by 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A funeral Mass is at 11:00 a.m. - Friday, May 6,2011, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Portland with reception following. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Portland. Visitation is at 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. May 5, 2011 at Zeller Chapel of the Roses, Portland - 503-287-1155. Memorial contributions may be made to Birthright - Providence Hospital - Oregon Food Bank.
