George Thomas Walker, 93, of Mount Pocono, passed away Monday evening, May 10, at Collingswood Manor, Collingswood, N.J. He was the husband of the late Virginia (Stahl) Walker.

Born on Jan. 21, 1917, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Emma (Paris) and Bian Blackwell Walker Sr. He was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, class of 1939, and served in the U.S. Army under Gen. Patton during World War II.

George operated the Fairview Water Co. in Mount Pocono from 1955 to 1996.

He was a member of the Mount Pocono United Methodist Church and the Mount Pocono Rotary Club and a charter member of the Pocono Heritage Land Trust.

Surviving are a brother, Bian B. Walker Jr. of Mount Pocono; a nephew, W. Thomas Walker of Haddonfield, N.J.; a grandniece, Annalisa Walker, and a grandnephew, Daniel Walker, both of Haddonfield, N.J.

There will be a viewing from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Stanley Menking officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Swiftwater.

In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances may be made to the Mount Pocono United Methodist Church, 12 Church Ave., Mount Pocono, PA 18344.
