James W. Cooper, 66, of Volant RD 1, died at 1:30 p.m. yesterday in his home unexpectedly of a heart attack. He had been in ill health for the past year. He was born in Washington Township, Lawrence County on May 19, 1901, to the late John and Minnie Drake Cooper. He married the former Verna McFarland in 1923 and was a retired maintenance man of the Hydril Co. of Rochester, Pa. Mr. Cooper was a member of Leesburg United Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife and a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Doris Mae) Stoner of Farrell, a brother, Charles, of Volant RD 1 and four grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter. Friends will be received at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Leesburg from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in Leesburg conducted by Rev. William Wishart of Leesburg UP Church. Interment will be in Plain Grove United Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
