Mr. Pardee was born in the town of Norway on May 25, 1921, a son of the late Charles and Mildred (Lanphere) Pardee.
He received his early education in a Norway country school and at the age of nine, went to Ilion to live with his aunt and uncle, Helen and Fred Lanphere. Ken furthered his education at Ilion schools and was united in marriage with the former Charlotte M. Emrich on May 9, 1942, in Herkimer.
In October of 1942, he entered the U.S. Navy, where he served during World War II until his honorable discharge in October of 1945. Mr. Pardee retired from Remington Arms, where he had worked for a total of 41 years, both prior to and after his military service.
The couple had resided on Graves Road since 1956 and Charlotte preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 1986.
He was a member of Adirondack Post 1118 American Legion, Cold Brook and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son, David Pardee of Utica; three daughters, Mary DeCarr of Mohawk; Barbara Warney and her husband Robin of Newport and Cindy Lindauer of Oneida; three brothers, Carl, Nelson and Merrill, all of Ilion; one sister, Beatrice Spooner of Colorado; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery, where military honors will be offered by the U.S. Navy. Herkimer Evening Telegram, May 31, 2002
