It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce to passing of our beloved husband, brother, grandson, uncle and friend, JOSE VASQUEZ CARRION, 39 of Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Mike O'Callaghan Federal Hospital. He was born September 14, 1971 in Springfield, Colorado of Bernardino F. and Celestina Vasquez Carrion.

Jose served his country honorably in the United States Army and was an independent health system contractor. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Rosa Falu Carrion of the family home; two brothers, Ruben Carrion of El Paso, Texas, Bernardino Carrion of St. Louis, Missouri; three sisters, Frances Carrion of Fort Stockton, Texas, Elvia Leyva and Sandra Carrion both of Las Cruces; his maternal grandmother, Manuela Vasquez of Las Cruces, and an uncle, Jose Carrion of Denver, Colorado. Other survivors include his parents-in-law, Daniel and Jenny Falu Centeno of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sisters-in-law, Ivette Berner of Atlanta, Georgia, Jeanette Falu Bishop and husband Michael also of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nine nieces, Janeeli and Jasmine Carrion, Janiece Marquez all of Las Cruces, Irene and Celestina Leyva of Denver, Colorado, Karizma and Lluvizna Carrion of St. Louis, Missouri, Ariana and Anthonette Bishop-Falu of Colorado Springs, Colorado; eight nephews, Ruben Carrion Jr., Elias Leyva and Diego Rodriguez all of Las Cruces, Bernardino and Sebastian Carrion of St. Louis, Missouri, Dominic Firman of Atlanta, Georgia, Jacob and Xavier Bishop-Falu both of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his beloved pet, Diamond Girl; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his maternal grandfather, Jesus Vasquez, and his paternal grandparents, Maura and Francisco Carrion.

Visitation for Jose will begin at 6 PM Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 9 AM in the Basilica de San Albino, 2270 Calle Principal in Mesilla with Reverend Richard Catanach officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress with military honors accorded by a New Mexico National Guard Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League – El Perro Diablo Detachment. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, May 1, 2011 at 8 AM in Garden of the Gods Club, 3320 Mesa Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Serving as casket bearers will be Ruben Carrion, Orlando Torralba, Andy Leon, Michael Bishop, Ruben Carrion, Jr. and Bernardino Carrion, Jr.
