Residence Caroline County, VA.; carpenter.
Enlisted for 3 years' service on 3/14/1862 at Fort Spottswood, VA, he was mustered 4/1/1862 into Company E "Howell Guards" Florida Volunteers, 5th Alabama Battalion as a Private. This unit next was part of the 55th Virginia Infantry and 6/20/1862 became Company M, 2nd Florida Infantry.
Absent, sick in Spotsylvania County, VA. on 6/30-10/31 and Nov & Dec 1862 Rolls.
Absent, sick furlough in Spotsylvania County, VA. on March & April 1863 Roll.
Absent Without Leave on March & April 1864 through Jan & Feb 1865 Rolls.
Paroled 5/2/1865 Ashland, VA.

Postwar, married to Alice Mariah Acors, he lived as a farmer & carpenter in Caroline County. They had 10 children.

On 5/30/1906, age 74, he applied for a full-disability Confederate Pension due to not being able to work due to poor health, including heart trouble and deafness. He was approved 9/29/1906.
He died of paralysis (stroke).

On 12/5/1921, his widow, living in Richmond, applied for a Confederate Widow's Pension. She was approved for $60 per month.

The 2nd Infantry Regiment completed its organization at Jacksonville, Florida, in July, 1861. It's twelve companies contained men from Escambia, Columbia, Leon, Marion, Jackson, Alachua, St. Johns, Putnam, Hamilton, Nassau, and Madison counties. The regiment was soon ordered to Virginia and in April, 1862, had 530 effectives.
