He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late Gilmer and Maggie McCracken Carver. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, J. M. and Mack Carver and a sister, Helen Griswald. He retired from Champion International and served in the United States Army in the Korean Conflict stationed in Panama.
